Katharine Nugent Rhodes Family
Look on Ancestry.com for Katrina's genealogy. Her great great grandmother (on her mother's Smith side) was the sister of Jefferson F. Davis. She was born on 19 Feb. 1889 on Revielle Plantation, Bolivar, Miss. Her father brought the family to Roanoke in the late 1890's when the town was called Big Lick. He ran an insurance company. On 14 Oct 1919 in Radford, Va she married Stanley R. McGhee who worked for the a bridge building company. They divorced on 3 Sept. 1930, because he abandoned her. Her beloved brother S. Bertram was born in 1886 in Illinois, but he died young, in 1926. Katrina settled in Blacksburg by 1920, owned the house on 204 E. Roanoke St. by 1930, and died in Roanoke, Va on 31 July 1968.
